Jon DeWald is an entrepreneur with more than fifteen years of experience in leadership, business development, strategic planning, and corporate strategy. He is also the co-founder of LAB Ventures portfolio company HELIXintel. They provide a simple, intuitive, and collaborative platform for owners of commercial equipment — that includes everyone from restaurants to factories to building contractors – to proactively track and maintain the machines that power their businesses. "Our team has years of experience supporting OEM equipment across the country, so we know firsthand that equipment management is fragmented, time-consuming and inefficient, causing businesses to spend more on repairs or new products and consume more energy due to equipment inefficiencies," said DeWald, also the company’s CEO.
Prior to launching HELIXintel, Jon DeWald served in the United States Marine Corps during the early 2000s. Deployed in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe, Jon received many accolades and medals for his actions – most notably a medal of valor during the Battle of Fallujah. Jon’s time in the Marine Corps gave him grit, and a drive to succeed. After the Marine Corps, Jon began his entrepreneurial career while a freshman in college, starting an Energy Services Company. Trifecta Energy provided cleantech integration, distributed generation development, and Own-Operate-Maintain solutions. Additionally, Jon was able to secure a dealership agreement from with Ingersoll Rand, a world-leading Compressed Air Manufacturer.
Since launching in 2019, Jon has used his leadership and team-building skills to develop HELIXintel into a world-class organization; and the incredible team surrounding him has allowed HELIXintel to see rapid growth, with a lot of users and equipment onboarded. HELIXintel even partnered with The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company (HSB), the largest provider of equipment breakdown insurance and related inspection services in North America . The strategic partnership is bringing together HSB's equipment breakdown expertise and HELIXintel's cutting edge equipment management technology to help businesses Improve equipment maintenance, increase operational efficiency, prevent equipment breakdowns, and mitigate risk. LAB Ventures invested in HELIXintel last year, joining in on a $4M seed round led by Old Three Hundred and HSB’s parent company MunichRe.
